On Saturday, July 16, 2022, USJ welcomed new Graduate students\nto the University of San Jose at the 2022 USJ Opening Convocation Ceremony, the\nformal inauguration of the academic year. USJ Vice President Dr. Bin Li hosted\nthe event. Dr. Claude Wang, President of USJ, gave a speech titled \u201cOne World,\nOne Dream”, and USJ Vice-President Prof. Tom Tafolla delivered a speech to\nCongratulate USJ’s new opening as the representative of USJ teachers and taught\nthe first class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special guests Dr. Yinghui Zhang, President and Professor of\nNeusoft College of Chengdu, Mr. Canying Piao, General Manager of Chengdu First\nPharmaceutical, and Mr. Yonggang Fei, Executive Vice President of Sichuan\nTsinghua Alumni Association and Chairman of Pioneer Group congratulated the USJ\nopening ceremony through video online. Some special guests also participate\nonline. (The list of special guests is in the attachment)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

19 new graduate students (including pre-recorded students) from\nthe United States and China attended the opening ceremony. After the opening\nceremony, USJ Vice President Professor Tom Tofalla started his first lecture on\n“Operations Management”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together with our new classmates, we celebrated the beginning of USJ\u2019s 2022 new Opening Convocation Ceremony. We wish the University of San Jose a better tomorrow!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

USJ President Dr. Claude Wang’s Speech<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speech Topic: One world, one dream<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speech Summary: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyone has his own dream. Some people like fortune, some people like a bachelor\u2019s degree, and some people like political power, but our dream is to build an international university bridge between China and USA, helping more and more younger students to achieve their international education dream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school motto of USJ is \u201cfreedom, truth, service\u201d. We got this motto from John Leighton Stuart (the principal of the Yenching University from 1919 to 1946). Mr. Stuart\u2018s original words are \u201cfreedom through truth for service\u201d. These words are from the Bible. Christ mentions it:  “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). Truth and freedom are the human forever aims, we will do our best to serve our students to get the freedom and truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Silicon Valley is the\ncreative center of science and technology in the world. There are so many high\nlevels of universities and colleges in Silicon Valley.  USJ is a very small school here, but we will\nget our aim is to build a special international university and build a Chinese culture\nand America Culture cooperation bridge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are thinking about the\nthree problems our students faced and do our best to help them solve these\nproblems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, USJ provides real case studying training, flexible education plans, and maintaining working and learning balance to improve the students\u2019 talents and save study time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second, USJ helps the students to save their study fees by helping the student get financial aid from the state government and making flexible payment methods. Students can study at first, then use their future salary to make the payment for the study fee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third, USJ builds the P2P plan. We will provide the Professional Development Accelerator (PDA) service to help our students to build their workshops in Silicon Valley and help the students get international credits through their local credits and earn the international degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We met the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. We have experienced some difficulty to hold the USJ 2022 Opening Convocation Ceremony today, but your compassion, strength, and character helped USJ to make great progress. USJ got the BPPE from the CA government in 2021. We can provide the master program service for our students. We are continuing to work for WASC accreditation in the future.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, we celebrate your\nfirst day in USJ and the milestone of USJ development, let us work together to\nbuild the wonderful future we desire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
